2025 AISACT Understanding and Managing Behaviours with Evidence-Based Practices: Facilitated by Kelly Oldfield

This workshop provides educators research-based tools and strategies to understand, manage, and positively influence challenging behaviours. By focusing on evidence-based practices, participants will explore the underlying functions of behaviours and learn practical approaches to modify them effectively. Through a deep understanding of behavioural psychology, educators will be empowered to address behaviours at their root cause, ensuring sustainable and impactful change. Topics covered:
- In-depth understanding of Functions of Behaviour
- Effective Behaviour Modification
- Escalation and De-escalation Strategies
- Environmental and Practice Influences
- Behaviour Tracking Practices
- Building and Maintaining Relationships
- Visual and Non-verbal Supports
Session 1: Face-to face Workshop – Wednesday 2 April (9.00am-4.00pm)
Participants will be equipped with the tools and insights necessary to understand, mage and positively influence challenging behaviours in children.
Session 2: virtual coaching – Term 2 – as negotiated
Session with individual school team focused on developing the school’s focus area / action research project.
Session 3: virtual coaching – Term 3 – as negotiated
Session with individual school team focused on developing the school’s focus area / action research project.
Session 4: Celebrating Teaching & Learning event – Tuesday 11 November
90 minute Facilitated Reflection
