50th Anniversary Book
On 22 February 1973, a meeting was held “to investigate the formation of an Association of Independent Schools of the ACT”. The Principals/Heads and Chairs of six schools were at this initial meeting, believing that it was important to form an Association to have the views of independent schools advocated to Government and education departments. Influential in this position was the desire to have a collective voice to the soon to be established Schools Authority in the ACT, which would become the ACT Education Directorate, as the ACT school system broke from New South Wales.
